Discover a dance program were fun meets excellence. Our classes are designed to inspire and support dancers, offering top-notch technical training in a warm, confidence-boosting environment. With a variety of genres to choose from there’s something for every young dancer to enjoy. Families enjoy the flexibility we offer, allowing you to pick the perfect combination of classes that fit your schedule and your dancer’s interests. Whether your child wants to explore multiple genres or focus on their favourite style, they\u2019ll thrive in our fun-loving, family-friendly atmosphere. Allow your dancer to explore the pure enjoyment of dance without the commitment of competitions, exams, or concerts. Students enrolled in the General Classes can do private lessons for technique only, not competitive solos.<\/p>

Classical ballet is the foundation of dance, based on formal movements and positions designed to allow for the highest class of agility, grace, speed, and control. At LJR Dance Academy our ballet classes are a fun-filled adventure in a warm and encouraging environment. Our classical ballet class is designed to inspire kids to explore the beautiful art of dance while having a blast. Students will discover the joy of movement as they learn graceful positions and exciting choreography, all while building confidence and creativity. Our supportive instructors foster a sense of community, ensuring everyone feels valued and motivated to express themselves. We focus on the fundamentals of ballet, helping students dance with confidence and develop their skills at their own pace. Plus, we incorporate fun dance theory along the way. The genre of Jazz has evolved over time, currently encompassing the elements of isolations, grounded movement, syncopation, and contractions to upbeat music.\u00a0 This class is all about having fun and expressing yourself through movement in a supportive and friendly environment.\u00a0<\/b>Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, our instructors are here to guide you and help you discover your unique dance style. We focus on exploring various dance techniques and fostering creativity, all while building confidence and making new friends. This class enhances coordination, flexibility, stamina as well as giving students technical skills. Young students begin to learn the basics of jazz technique such as skipping, marching, isolating and dance combinations. They then progress, improving their jazz technique and increasing their repertoire of steps. Tap is a genre of dance where metal taps are attached to the heel and ball of a soft shoe as a form of percussion. They learn the basic elements of Tap such as ankle movements, and how to use their knee and hip joints correctly. Students then learn basic movements such as a shuffle, toe hits, stamps and more.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The LJR Performance Program is designed for dancers who love being on stage and want to take their performance skills to the next level. Throughout the year, students will learn a series of dynamic, show-stopping routines and perform them at a mid-year in studio concert event and an end of year in theatre concert event. This program is perfect for dancers who thrive on energy, teamwork, and the joy of entertaining an audience. The genre of acrobatics was formed from the basis of gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and circus contortion. Acrobatic movements, commonly known as \u2018tricks\u2019 require good balance, strength and agility. At LJR Dance Academy, students begin to learn basic acrobatic techniques and tricks to foster strength, and progress into more challenging movements. Students are then able to learn tricks such as walkovers, ariels, back and front handsprings, front aerials and much more. Our acrobatics program is based on safe and effective progression where students learn strength and stretch, balancing, limbering, tumbling and contortion exercises. There is no performance or exam for this class.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Hip-Hop dance is known as a street style, with movements derived from mambo, samba, jazz and martial arts. At LJR Dance Academy, students learn styles such as house, locking, waacking, and breaking, which all have their own techniques and vocabulary. Students also learn correct Hip-Hop techniques such as waving and popping to enhance their performance quality and add an extra flavour\/individuality to their movements. Students learn a series of groove exercises, implementing moves from different eras and origins. They learn old school grooves new school grooves with different dance routine\/combination each lesson to improve their ability to pick up choreography and confidently perform it within the lesson. This is a major skill that fosters professionalism in a dancer. Students are also guided through skills set to assist with free-styling as this is a major part of the Hip Hop dance culture.
